About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is part of an ancient system of medicine that includes herbs, massage, dietary advice and cupping, to create bodily balance, treating symptoms and maintaining health and well-being.

Very fine needles are inserted at specific points along pathways/meridians on the body, to ease and maintain the flow of qi [energy]. The needles are left between 20 to 30 minutes allowing you to fully relax. Typical sensations may include dullness and tingling, heaviness of limbs, and deep relaxation. Occasionally there may be slight bleeding or bruising at a needle site.

As an integral part of mainstream medicine in China, it can be used both alone or together with, conventional medicine here in the West. Recent research has shown that using certain acupuncture points improves blood circulation, increases white blood cell counts, and stimulates the release of endorphins, resulting in an improved immune system, pain relief, and a general feeling of well-being.

For the best results, a course of six or more weekly treatments is recommended, with progress reviewed and treatment tailored at each further session.
